Writ to polling:
Minimum time frame for holding
an election 25 days
Maximum time frame for holding an election 55
days
Process as follows:
- Issue of the writ
- Close of the roll
Rolls close not less than 7 days nor more than 10
days after the issue of the Writ

- Close of nominations
Nominations close not less than 3 days nor more than
14 days after the close of the roll

- Polling day
A Saturday falling not less than 14 days nor more
than 30 days after the close of nominations

general elections is 3 years after parliament first
sat following the last election, plus minimum time frame
